The Seventh-day Adventist Church (SPD) Limited is seeking a talented and highly experienced IT Operations and Infrastructure Manager to plan, direct and design the Church’s IT infrastructure and lead the infrastructure team that maintains and supports clients. This full-time position will be based at the South Pacific Division head office in Wahroonga NSW and be part of the Adventist Technology management team.

Adventist Technology is the SPD’s internal managed service provider to many of the Seventh-day Adventist Church entities across the South Pacific. It hosts and supports multiple services ranging from core business functions (i.e. church administration, accounting, payroll) through to aged care (i.e. resident management) and education (i.e. learning management, student records). Adventist Technology also drives innovation and develops customised software to support the needs of clients whilst promoting a high cyber security resilience.

As the IT Operations and Infrastructure Manager you will report to the Director of Technology Operations and Strategy and be responsible for the IT team’s growth, development and performance as well as ensuring stability and that services are managed within product service targets. Some travel within Australia and other countries in the South Pacific may be necessary. The successful candidate will have the following selection criteria:

Essential

  • Be a practicing baptised member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with a strong commitment to its mission, beliefs and lifestyle.
  • Have or be eligible to hold the appropriate church licence/credential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience as an IT Engineer in addition to at least 5 years of management experience.
  • Extensive technical knowledge with technologies such as Microsoft, Cisco and VMware as well as cloud and emerging technologies.
  • Experience with storage area networks, WAN acceleration, virtualization, firewalls and routers.
  • Strong people management skills and experience.
  • Stellar communication skills to strategize, plan and collaborate with both higher- and lower-level colleagues.
  • Proven ability to analyse, problem-solve, prioritise and execute tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Professional and friendly written and oral communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences and across cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing operating and capital budgets.
  • Capable of finding the best solution in challenging circumstances.
  • Strong team player, ability to lead and ability to accept and follow directions.
  • Analysis and design skills and experience.
  • Experience in managing change.

Preferred

  • Certification in Cisco, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer or have related certifications.
  • Experience as technical lead for a major technology implementation.
  • Master’s degree in a technology field.
  • Ability to work autonomously and achieve high outputs.
